Emily McGrath is Sr. Director, Strategic Communications at Tunheim, where she helps organizations clarify their stories, navigate complexity, and build trusted relationships with the audiences and stakeholders who matter most.

A senior communications and marketing leader, Emily advises CEOs, boards, founders, and senior leadership teams on strategic positioning, reputation management, executive communications, crisis response, public affairs, and organizational alignment. Her work spans sectors including health care, insurance, philanthropy, education, professional services, and mission-driven organizations.

At Tunheim, Emily leads integrated communications programs for organizations facing moments of growth, change, risk, or heightened public scrutiny. She has guided organizational positioning and stakeholder strategy, led crisis and reputation response for clients facing litigation, leadership transitions, regulatory scrutiny, and high-stakes public issues, and overseen multimillion-dollar communications engagements involving strategy, digital, creative, and public affairs teams.

Emily has supported organizations including Accra, Howden, the Minnesota Twins, United Health Foundation, Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies, and the Minnesota Private College Council. She also served as Interim Head of Communications and Marketing for Accra, one of Minnesota’s largest nonprofit providers of home- and community-based services, where she led integrated communications, brand strategy, marketing, executive communications, internal engagement, board communications, and organization-wide messaging.

Before joining Tunheim, Emily worked as a contract lobbyist for Fortune 500 companies and statewide organizations on issues including health care, workforce, economic development, and public safety. She also served as a legislative liaison for the Minnesota Department of Health, providing communications and policy strategy between state leadership, legislators, advocacy groups, and public health stakeholders.

Emily previously served on the Executive Committee of IPREX, an international network of independent PR agencies, where she co-chaired the Partner Value Committee. She has also served on the boards of several nonprofit and community organizations.

Emily holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Bard College and a B.S. in Architecture from the University of Maryland.
