Tunheim has announced that Bob Hume, one of Minnesota’s most respected public affairs and communications strategists, has joined the company to lead its public affairs practice.
Hume served as Senior Advisor to Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton and then-Lt. Governor Tina Smith. Prior to his state service, Bob was Deputy Chief of Staff and Communications Director to Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman. Hume has also served as staff and advisor to several U.S. Senate campaigns, including those of Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Senator Chris Coons of Delaware, and former United States Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle of South Dakota. Bob is a graduate of Hamline University and did graduate work at Minnesota State University Mankato in Public Administration.
“Having spent my entire career at the forefront of high-stakes issue management, strategic communications, and helping leaders navigate complex change, joining the outstanding team at Tunheim is a natural next step for me,” Hume said. “I’ve seen first-hand what a catalyst their ‘collective best’ approach can be for projects big and small. I’m thrilled to be joining a firm with such a clear legacy of success.”
Hume will lead Tunheim’s public affairs practice as Director of Public Affairs. In addition to advising clients, Bob will focus on growing the public affairs practice and serve on the management team.
“Bob is a fantastic addition to our team,” said John Blackshaw, Tunheim’s President and Chief Operating Officer. “He not only brings a wealth of public affairs experience and leadership, he is one of the sharpest strategic thinkers around. Under his leadership, our public affairs practice will be second to none.”
