Tunheim Partners offers summer and full-time internship positions to qualified
applicants interested in gaining hands-on experience and exposure in the areas
of public relations and public affairs. Tunheim Partners seeks interns with the
potential to learn, grow, and develop their skills while contributing to our
client teams and culture. As with all levels in the company, we look for
exceptional candidates who will add to our talent pool. Interns provide service
to clients under the supervision of experienced account staff and serve as
members of one or more account teams.
QUALITIES WE SEEK
Writing - Strong writing ability is a
baseline requirement.
Experience - Familiarity/experience with
media relations and a demonstrated team approach/orientation.
Initiative - Strong initiative,
demonstrated through work or extracurricular experience.
Resourcefulness - Creative approach to
assignments; desire/ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment; and
ability to conduct thoughtful, thorough research.
EDUCATION
- Journalism/communications degree plus some communications experience
outside the classroom
- Liberal Arts degree in other area/major (English, history, business,
political science, liberal arts, etc.) with evidence of commitment to
pursuing a career in communications, e.g., published writing samples,
hands-on communications experience
REQUIREMENTS
All applicants must submit the following:
- A current resume and cover letter
- Names and contact information for three references (not related to the
applicant), such as professors or business associates
- A minimum of three writing samples (samples may not be returned;
photocopies are acceptable)
Applicants selected for an interview will be expected to complete a writing test
(grammar, style/usage, spelling) at our offices and a take-home writing
assignment. Both components of the test will be judged on accuracy, writing
style and promptness.
