Duane Benson

To say that Duane is a big picture guy would not be totally accurate. Duane is actually a giant picture guy. With a diverse background in state government, business-to-government affairs and small business management, Duane has proved himself to be one of the most sought-after minds in Minnesota. He offers clients a broad, 360-degree view on a variety of issues.
Currently, Duane is the Executive Director of the Minnesota Early Learning Foundation. He also had a long tenure as the Executive Director of the Minnesota Business Partnership and was a Minnesota state senator from 1980 to 1994 where he was elected Senate Republican Leader three consecutive times. During his years at the capitol, Benson was named Outstanding Public Official in Minnesota twice by Politics in Minnesota and 100 Smartest in Minnesota by Politics in Minnesota
Duane’s contributions to society extend far beyond his career. He has served as a mentor for Minneapolis public schools, and he sits on the board of directors for the Minnesota State College and University System, HMN Federal and the Minnesota Zoo. Duane also has served on the cabinet selection committee for three Minnesota governors. On the weekends, you can find him teaching Sunday school at Lanesboro Methodist Church.
Duane graduated with honors from Hamline University and played for 11 seasons in the NFL as a linebacker for the Oakland Raiders, Atlanta Falcons, and Houston Oilers. He continues to own and operate a cattle farm outside of Lanesboro.
